Maybe you’ve been having your meals handed to you as you work to find a more effective landing page and to build your mailing list. That is all right because you have been learning valuable lessons even if the hard way. What you must do is keep learning and implementing new approaches.

A landing page design, with copy, that works well for one market may be less effective with others. Also remember that a huge part of success with this type of special site, or page, comes with testing. Oftentimes you have to find the sweet spot that really does exist in your audience.

Most of the call to action copy on the net is direct, forceful and to the point. It’s important to test out a call to action that is less straightforward and not quite so commanding as well.

There are more and more people who aren’t as appreciative of being ordered to do something. So then a more amenable way of calling them to action can be with something using a word like, trying or learning more, etc. "Download Now!" can really turn people off but "Learn More" is not quite as in your face. But remember to avoid words that could be confusing or too vague.

One thing to always avoid is placing unusual demands on your landing page visitors. Most Internet Marketers know that they need to be careful about the questions that get asked of their future subscribers. You can, though, find forms that look almost exactly like the forms you fill out when you apply for a loan–perhaps even an abbreviated form.

The point is that if you ask too many questions your conversion rate is going to go over about as well as a lead balloon. The very same consideration can be put into your copy too and you don’t want your readers’ minds to have too many questions. Remember that you need to make sure that the overall gist of your landing page is really focused.

Every landing page has the same basic purpose and nobody is questioning that. What is being questioned is whether or not you are sure that your basic message specific and direct. Think about what you’ve been doing with the landing page that you have created; you want people to take specific action, right?

When you think about it from this perspective, you’re basically promoting something; it has to be clear and easily figured out by your readers. Try to remember that your visitors are there of their own volition and that means that they need to have a least a little bit of interest in you.

There is so much to wrap your head around, not just in terms of creating good landing pages but for everything involved in marketing. You have to understand and know why something is called for in a particular situation such as the landing page. Because if that knowledge is not there, you aren’t going to know whether you’re just wasting your time and spinning your wheels.
